Student Profile: Jeerawat Chutiwattanathada MLA2

I received my first degree in Bachelor of Architecture from Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. After graduation, I spent my time working in the field of Architecture for over 10 years. I am currently a public servant as an architect at the Department of Rural Road, Bangkok. My responsibilities are designing buildings and landscape, creating architecture along road sides across the country and improving scenery and landscape along the roads to be make a scenic route for tourism.

Moreover, I have worked with others public sectors to innovate landscape together with logistics strategies. Due to my duties, I have to travel throughout the country to visit the sites and set up people’s participation for the sustainable development.

In the modernised era, we cannot deny that landscape is an essential part of famous architecture, urban planning and construction projects to increase value and worth for the construction industry.

Furthermore, the government sectors have realised and established an architecture and landscape design division in their own unit namely the Architecture and Landscape Architecture Division in the Department of Rural Roads (DRR) that I have worked for.

Although, my department is under the supervision of the Ministry of Transportation, the DRR’s obligation has not emphasised only design, construction and maintenance roads, DRR’s responsibilities have also enhanced the affected existing surroundings, especially the natural scenery to be a part of our roads to create the scenic route for tourism. Therefore, I have been aware that the Landscape Design is the vital key to improve performance and effectiveness for my occupation in the future. It is a reason that I intensely desire to study the Landscape Architecture to expand and exchange my skills and knowledge.
