Staff Profile: Dr Joanne Phillips, Associate Lecturer

Updated: Feb 24, 2019

I have been teaching landscape architecture at MMU since 2010, having been a student here too. Before this I studied and worked in horticulture and as a garden designer, and also taught English literature. Although I came to this field through a love of plants, my current research interest is around public engagement with landscape. I have recently completed my PhD about engagement with rural landscapes in anticipation of HS2. I teach the dissertation element of MLA2 and the Landscape Studies 1b element of MLA1. I'm very interested in current critical theory and also in design of and engagement with walking and cycling infrastructure.
