Plants on Watch: Picea spp.

As the new spruce tips emerged on this specimen at the end of the garden, their papery brown coatings fell away onto a seating area below. They stuck to everything, including the dog!

This tall spruce tree is too high to forage from, but this makes it a perfect spot for bird nests – so far pigeons, magpies and a woodpecker have made their home in it.
