MLA-2 Location Visits
The MLA2 atelier projects continue the theme of the Hyper Rural, except this year we are looking at the area to the south of the Lake District along the Morecambe Bay coastline. A crack-of-dawn start and long day in the coach was well worth it. We managed to make 8 stops and get to see a wide range of landscapes from the idyllic of Cartmel and Ulverston, to the brutal shipyards of Barrow and the weirdness of Walney Island’s mobile home community, facing the world’s largest wind farm. The dark silhouettes of the Lake District fells loomed over us the entire trip, an ever-present reminder of the contrast between these iconic landscapes and the rural juxtapositions of the study area.
